LA Tourism Captures the Diversity and Razzle-dazzle of LA with Digideck
Los Angeles is known as the entertainment capital of the world due to the presence of Hollywood, an abundance of tourist and amusement attractions, and its idyllic weather.
As the city’s official tourism marketing organization, Discover LA’s mission is to market and promote Los Angeles as the premier site for leisure travel, meetings and conventions. They are competing with top destinations across the United States – it’s an ultra-competitive environment where the ability to stand apart in a meaningful way can mean the difference between winning and losing business.
The sales team at Discover LA needed a presentation platform that adequately captured the buzz and electricity that Los Angeles is known to provide. “PowerPoint wasn’t getting the job done. Our destination is diverse and we needed something more dynamic to solidify the impression that Los Angeles is the entertainment capital of the world. When you are representing Los Angeles there is a higher standard and a higher expectation for your presentations,” said Bruce McGregor, Director of Sales Operations for Discover LA.
Digideck is an interactive cloud-based platform used to share dynamic and engaging presentations. Digideck presentations are more flexible, more engaging and require less time to prepare. It provides Discover LA the ability to showcase its narrative in a more compelling and consistent manner from any device, at any time.
“Digideck is such a strong sales tool, it sets us apart from other destinations right off the bat,” said McGregor. “We have an incredibly large amount of inventory to sell and it’s an incredibly diverse city, so we needed a better visualization tool that gives us the ability to change our presentations on the fly. With Digideck, we can really educate prospects on the different regions of Los Angeles and the different venues available to them.”
“The platform is multifaceted. We can send a Digideck link with email. We can walk through a presentation face-to-face or on Skype or GoToMeeting. We use it for our exhibit booth. We can walk into a boardroom and use the app on a laptop. The app has been so helpful because we have all this video content and it works anywhere and we do not have to worry about Wi-Fi or Internet connection, you just plug and play. So, it’s fluid, which makes it great,” says Paige Cram, Discover LA’s Marketing Director.
“Our clients have definitely taken notice and our sales team likes the edginess that they’re coming in with. People remember Digideck… it gives us a wow factor that helps to sell,” said McGregor. “Now our team can respond faster,” added Cram. “Digideck accelerates our ability to get back to clients quickly, which gives us an edge. We can easily make edits and further customizations on the fly when needed. The platform’s analytics reporting details, presentation, and slide views provide an ongoing snapshot of engagement throughout the entire process. “We’re starting to leverage the analytical data. If there is a big trade show, we’ll send out a link to all the attendees… we can see which slides are popular. We really like the ability to get an email notification immediately when the client opens our Digideck and then we can track what they’re looking at,” said McGregor.

“The flashiness of the Digideck is a selling point. We are working with meeting planners and competing against a lot of other destinations. They are looking at PowerPoints, so the Digideck helps to set us apart. We’re using something different, something that catches people’s attention right off the bat.”
